Tactical Communications Group Announces Company Restructuring to Better Align Organization for Future Growth

Company Founder Michael Hiney Announced as TCG's President and CEO

TEWKSBURY, MA--(Marketwired - Aug 20, 2013) -  Tactical Communications Group (TCG), the leading independent supplier of tactical data link (TDL) software solutions for military test, training, simulation and operational users worldwide, announced that its Board of Managers has approved the appointment of Michael Hiney to President and CEO. Mr. Hiney had served as TCG's General Manager for the past 6 years where he was responsible for the technical aspects of TCG's operations, including engineering, product and program management, operational/technical support, and quality assurance and has been a member of TCG's Board since 2011. Mr. Hiney, a TCG founder, has been with the company since its inception in 2001 and he brings over 25 years of Tactical Data Link experience to his new role.

"Michael's keen understanding of the TDL industry and TCG's clients and his proven record of achievement over the last 12 years with TCG were the determining factors in his promotion," said Mr. Jack Blais, the Chairman of TCG's Board of Managers. "Michael's leadership has been instrumental in expanding TCG's industry-leading TDL solutions to meet dynamic warfighter requirements, including usage of the latest mobile devices and hardware platforms, and this vision will keep TCG at the forefront of TDL product development."

"I'm looking forward to leading TCG and to expanding TCG's legacy of developing and delivering some of the very best tactical data link products and services in the world," said Mr. Hiney. "We have a great staff of employees at TCG and I will be working with Nick Kropp, Kevin Mawn, and Frank Newark, members of TCG's industry-recognized senior management team, as well as TCG's entire expert technical and management staff and global partners to continue to support the US and coalition warfighters. Over the past several months, we have made significant investment in, developed, and fielded many new product capabilities to our BOSS®, GTS®, and LinkPRO® products. We will continue to produce new products and capabilities as warfighter needs change and the TDL community continues to evolve to increase war-fighting and sovereign defense effectiveness in a challenging fiscal environment."

In addition to Mr. Hiney's appointment, TCG has also revised its organizational structure as follows:

  • Mr. Kevin Mawn was promoted to Vice President of Operations. In his new role, Mr. Mawn will have increased responsibility for program management and business development activities in addition to overseeing TCG's contracts, security, human resources, and administrative functions.
  • Mr. Nick Kropp, TCG's Vice President of TCG's Virginia Office and Worldwide Field Operations, saw his role expanded to include oversight of all of TCG's technical and client support activities as well as additional program management responsibilities.
  • Mr. Frank Newark, TCG's Vice President of Engineering, also saw his role expanded. His new responsibilities include quality assurance and additional program management.

"These organizational changes at the senior management level will continue to improve the effectiveness of our management team and their associated staff members in TCG program management and other client-facing functions, as TCG renews its commitment to a customer-prioritized business model," said Mr. Hiney.
