The Talent Board Announces the First Annual North American Candidate Experience Awards

Seeks to Honor Firms That 'Cancel Out' Recruiting's Black Hole

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 26, 2011) - The Talent Board, a non-profit organization focused on facilitating the evolution of the employment candidate experience, today announced details of The Candidate Experience Awards 2011. Designed to evaluate the candidate experience offered by companies throughout the entire recruitment cycle, this benchmark competition is the first-of-its-kind.

The Talent Board was founded by the talent acquisition industry's leading experts: Elaine Orler and Mark McMillan, Talent Function Group; Gerry Crispin, CareerXroads; and Ed Newman, Accidental Entrepreneur. Along with a group of high profile sponsors, these individuals are contributing their time and passion to underwrite this initiative, which is posed to forever change the manner in which job candidates are treated.

Crispin, who is also a Principal with CareerXroads, commented, "I'm an engineer. Engineers work with long complex formulas, always trying to simplify them by taking out as many elements as possible and making them equal zero. Then they work on solving for the remainder. For hundreds of years, recruiters, without thinking about it, have taken candidates out of the hiring equation the same way. The Candidate is the last stakeholder in the recruiting process whose experience must be valued in order to move our profession forward."

The award competition consists of three survey rounds that are designed to evaluate and recognize organizations that produce outstanding candidate experiences. Round one is comprised of a 40-question survey that is designed to capture and evaluate the nominated company's recruitment processes and practices driving the candidate experience. The submission deadline for this phase of the award process is June 30, 2011. The Award is designed for North American companies and it is free for all participating companies.

The outcome of the first round is the awarding of "Candidate Experience" designation to those organizations that meet a standard of candidate experience. Qualified entrants have the option of advancing to round two of the competition, which involves access to a sampling of 2011 employment candidates using online survey tools. Based on the results, finalists will advance to round three, which involves an interview by a panel of judges who will make the determination regarding the winners. All Candidate Experience winners will be celebrated at a banquet ceremony held during the 2011 HR Technology Conference in Las Vegas.

Elaine Orler, CEO of Talent Function Group, commented, "There is a concrete benefit for all of the companies that apply to the award. All of them will receive feedback on how they compare to the entire participant group. Unlike most awards, our goal is not simply to recognize a small group of superlative companies. Through positive recognition, our aim is to reinforce a market standard of effective and humane candidate experience practices. In addition, we will also recognize a subset of companies that are defining excellence."

A series of complimentary, informative webinars will be held to help entrants prepare their submissions. Held May 13, May 25 and June 8, registration details can be accessed at www.thecandidateexperienceawards.org.

A limited number of sponsorships are still available for the Awards. For more information, please contact elaine.orler@talentfunction.com.
