Tallwave Selects Five Innovative Early Stage Digital Technology Startups for High Tide™ at Luhrs City Center in Downtown Phoenix

Program Provides Hands-On Product, Branding, Sales, and Go-to-Market Resources to Help Entrepreneurs Commercialize Their Businesses

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwired - Apr 8, 2015) - Selected from a pool of over 75 geographically diverse and high-impact innovative digital technology startup companies, Tallwave today announced five participants for Tallwave's High Tide™ at Luhrs City Center (LCC) startup commercialization program. From April through June 2015, the rigorously chosen entrepreneurs will be given the use of complimentary custom workspace on the third floor of the iconic 14-story Art Deco Luhrs Tower in downtown Phoenix and participate in hands-on "sprints" focusing on product/prototyping, user validation, branding, sales systems, and go-to-market.

The ventures showcased their exceptional technology and talent at a special High Tide kick-off event April 7, held at LCC and attended by high-profile local investors, top corporations and entrepreneurial ecosystem partners.

"The outstanding quality of the applicants to this program we received from around the globe is a strong indicator of the rich resources Arizona's entrepreneurial ecosystem has to offer," said Jeffrey Pruitt, founder and CEO of Tallwave. "We congratulate the selected participants and look forward to sharing an amazing experience with them in the unique landmark Luhrs City Center as they quickly grow into viable, scalable companies."

Hansji Corporation, owners of LCC, announced a partnership with Scottsdale-based venture development company Tallwave to launch High Tide at Luhrs City Center in January, 2015. At the program's culmination, two of the High Tide companies will be eligible to receive $50,000 in seed funding.

"It's gratifying to see our vision and commitment of creating a technology and innovation hub at the historically modern Luhrs City Center being realized," said Rajan Hansji, president of Hansji Corporation. "We look forward to the kickoff of this exciting program where entrepreneurs are able to drive their innovations into the marketplace."

The five new ventures selected for High Tide at Luhrs City Center are:

  • DuuL (Gilbert, Ariz.): DuuL brings competitive video gaming to the living room by providing competitions to the millions of amateur gamers on various networks, as opposed to solely the top 1,000 elite players of each game. DuuL offers a web portal that allows gamers of all levels to access tournaments for games they want to play.
  • Elly (Walnut, Calif.): A social network based on the Elly platform for recording one second clips, combining them into longer compilations, adding music and hashtags and enabling sharing -- giving people a new and amazing way of saving their memories.
  • HumansFirst™ (Scottsdale, Ariz.): HumansFirst's HER app lets consumers shop, book travel and checkout using natural language (voice or text) on mobile devices. Humans First provides the solution to $4 trillion worth of merchandise that will be abandoned in online shopping carts this year, making checking out online as easy as talking on a phone.
  • MESH Digital (Portland, Ore.): MESH enables individuals for the first time ever to instantly choose to connect with desired brands through online ads, or to block annoying ads from irrelevant brands, as they navigate from website to website. This in turn alerts brands to users who genuinely want to connect in a more meaningful way.
  • PikFly (Phoenix, Ariz.): PikFly allows consumers to buy local while enjoying the convenience of same-day delivery. By aggregating products from locally owned, non-franchised businesses, PikFly makes it easy for users to support their neighborhoods and communities while helping merchants extend their brand reach to a wider audience.
