Tanzania-2,700 sq km in New Kilindi Area Midlands Minerals Corporation Granted Reconnaissance Licence

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 6 2005) - Kim Harris, Chief Executive Officer of Midlands Minerals Corporation (TSX VENTURE:MEX) ("Midlands" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that on July 14th , 2005, the company was granted a prospecting licence for gold exploration in Tanzania, with a preliminary reconnaissance period of two years. The new PLR 3322/2005 Licence is renewable thereafter for a further three years.

This new Licence covers an area of 2,700 square kilometres and is located about 120 kilometers north of the town of Morogoro. The New Kilindi Area was recently opened for exploration activity by the Government of Tanzania. Foreign mining companies exploring in the area include AngloGold Ashanti who are holding ground adjacent to the Midlands property.

"This is an excellent addition to the Company's portfolio of Tanzanian mineral properties", says Kim Harris, CEO. "New Kilindi is a new frontier which could present some interesting findings. Midlands is looking forward to exploring this new opportunity and we are pleased to have AngloGold Ashanti in the neighbourhood, and pleased to know their findings to date are considered encouraging".

The New Kilindi gold property is a grass roots property in similar geology to Lupa Goldfields, the second largest gold producing area in Tanzania. The area features early proterozoic granitic and gneissic rocks. Major shear zones hosting large veins trend north-easterly and as the Lupa Goldfields are known to have coarse gold, the ore in the area is free-milling with gold/silver ratios of 1:1 and 2:1. Banded iron formations (BIF) and quartz-carbonate rocks are a possible source of bulk mineable ore.

The New Kilindi property is a good addition to the Company's mineral properties. It is in a highly prospective area and neighbouring properties are getting encouraging results.

Midlands has recently been granted another prospecting licence in the Shinyanga area, Lake Victoria Goldfields in Tanzania and a prospecting licence for gold on the Kaniago concession in Ghana. The Kaniago property is located on the Asankrangwa Gold Belt.

Midlands planned initial work program on the New Kilindi will include soil geochemistry and geological mapping. The Company intends to commence work on this property as soon as possible.
