Tarari Showcases Partner Solutions for High Quality HD Video Encoding

Partners to Demonstrate Windows Media Video, Microsoft's Implementation of SMPTE VC-1 Encoding Solutions "Powered by Tarari" Using the Tarari® Encoder Accelerator at NAB2007

LAS VEGAS, NV -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 16, 2007 -- Special to NAB -- Tarari, Inc., the leader in deep content inspection and acceleration silicon, today announced it will join Microsoft (in booth #SL3213) at the National Association of Broadcasters Show (NAB2007) to demonstrate High Quality HD encoding of Microsoft Windows Media Video (WMV), Microsoft's implementation of SMPTE VC-1 using the Grand Prix 6000 series of the Tarari® Encoder Accelerator.

Many of Tarari's partners will also be in full force at NAB including 1 Beyond, Avid, Digital Rapids, Inlet, JBandA, Microsoft, Root6 and SyncCast.

The result of a joint effort between Tarari and Microsoft, the Tarari Encoder Accelerator is a PCI-X bus card that installs in any Microsoft Windows XP- or Microsoft Windows Server 2003-powered server or workstation. Tarari has also announced its intention to support its products under Microsoft Windows Vista. The Tarari Encoder Accelerator uses Tarari's award-winning acceleration technology to offload and accelerate the most processor-intensive algorithms -- such as motion estimation -- in the WMV (VC-1) encoding application. The Grand Prix 6000 series of the Tarari Encoder Accelerator eliminates the delay between recording source content and encoding it for distribution in high-definition (720p, 1080i) formats, a process that formerly took many hours or days.

"Preparing video for distribution online can be a time-intensive process. Tarari has created a powerful hardware solution to help optimize this for Silverlight-based experiences," said Forest Key, director of User Experience and Web Platform at Microsoft Corp. "Tarari Encoder Accelerator boards provide tremendous efficiencies for video encoding using the Expression Media Encoder. This ultimately enables content providers to quickly and easily deploy Silverlight video experiences that can scale from HD to mobile."

"The encoding of Live, High Quality, HD content is another tremendous milestone to pass, both for the Tarari Encoder Accelerator and for our customers," said Randy Smerik, CEO of Tarari, Inc. "This all but eliminates time to market for high-impact, must-have-it-now digital media and opens new revenue opportunities for content producers and distributors."

Terry Cullen, 1 Beyond's CEO and Founder, comments: "Live, real-time VC1 compression of HD footage has become the video industry's newest Holy Grail and we are very proud to have partnered with Tarari and Microsoft using identical 1 Beyond HD OctoFlex systems to make this happen."

"Inlet's encoding solutions enable new media over new networks," said Neal Page, CEO of Inlet Technologies. "Partnering with Tarari allows our customers to add a new and powerful hardware accelerator to our Fathom application suite. By partnering with Tarari we are offering an even wider range of price/performance solutions for encoding new media content, so our customers can produce high quality video, faster and more efficiently than ever before."
