TBA Global Helps Susan G. Komen for the Cure Create Successful 2007 Komen National Race for the Cure

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - June 11, 2007) - To educate the public about breast cancer while raising funds to discover and deliver cures, connective marketing and communications agency TBA Global partnered with client Susan G. Komen for the Cure to produce and manage the 18th annual Komen National Race for the Cure. The 5k run/fitness walk event took place on Saturday, June 2, 2007 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and attracted nearly 46,000 registrants from around the globe, including more than 3,800 breast cancer survivors and 35 registered embassies. This year, close to $4 million was raised for breast cancer research and community-based patient support programs.

In addition to the large crowds, the event drew support for breast cancer awareness from celebrities including Komen for the Cure ambassador René Syler and Katie Couric, who spoke during the pre-Race ceremony and anchored the "CBS Evening News" live from Washington the night before the event.

After the 5k, the post-Race festivities covered the National Mall between 3rd and 7th St., NW and featured Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Patti Austin who performed on stage in front of the Capitol building just as runners crossed the finish line. Other post-Race activities included the Kids for the Cure activity area, sponsors expo with giveaways and appearances by many local celebrities.

"TBA Global worked in tandem with our team to manage the Komen National Race for the Cure for the past three years which were each increasingly successful events," states Sloane Burke, Komen National Race project manager at Susan G. Komen for the Cure. "TBA's team of professionals was dedicated and skilled at handling all the facets of a high-profile large scale event while expanding community awareness and ultimately helping us raise significant dollars to further our promise to end breast cancer forever."

"TBA Global is proud to provide our live event expertise to help the tremendous work of Susan G. Komen for the Cure," said Lee Rubenstein, President and COO of TBA Global. "Our work with all aspects of marketing, promotion, registration, Race logistics, sponsor interaction and staged activities helped the Foundation connect with people touched by breast cancer, celebrate breast cancer survivors, and raise money and awareness for this important issue."

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested nearly $1 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
