Turnkey Solution Enables Management of Mobile Advertising, Subscriber Privacy and Profiles

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 27, 2007 -- TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a global leader in mission-critical wireless data communications, today announced the availability of its next-generation Wireless Intelligent Gateway™ (WIG) application server. The WIG platform is a standards-based solution that fully integrates subscriber privacy and profiling across two-way messaging and location-based services (LBS). The best-in-class Web portal currently supports over 25 million registered subscribers.

Mobile operators and application vendors looking to rapidly deploy secure LBS applications can use TCS' WIG for launching revenue-generating services while protecting mobile subscribers from invasion-of-privacy concerns. The WIG platform integrates TCS' patented location technology that can address privacy concerns commonly associated with delivery of mobile ad-sponsored content. As one of the very few companies to offer both hosted and in-network location solutions, TCS can deploy its turnkey gateway solution within the operator's network or as a service from one of TCS' TL-9000 certified hosting facilities.

TCS' WIG implementation fully supports the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) standard specification for location services via the Mobile Location Protocol (MLP) stack, an interface that allows applications to request the current subscriber's precise location.
