TCS Receives $2.25 Million Department of Defense Contract

TCS SwiftLink® to Enable Joint Task Force Headquarters to Fully Deploy Interoperable Communications in Less Than 24 Hours

ANNAPOLIS, MD--(Marketwire - September 13, 2007) - TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a global leader in mission-critical wireless communications, today announced it has been awarded a $2.25 million contract to support a Department of Defense (DoD) joint program with SwiftLink® deployable networking systems for command and control operations.

The TCS SwiftLink solution provides a Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) certified, integrated, rapidly deployable Command and Control (C2) system to Geographic Combatant Commanders. It also supports en route, early entry Joint Task Force (JTF) efforts, rapid response for first responders and small control teams, and full JTF C2 operations.

SwiftLink systems will enable the Geographic Combatant Commanders to fully deploy and activate a JTF headquarters in less than 24 hours. These headquarters are equipped with a command and control system with the ability to plan, control, coordinate, execute and assess operations across the spectrum of conflict and domestic disaster relief.

"Used to support critical DoD missions, these systems are the next step in our continuing support of the DoD community," stated Mike Bristol, Senior Vice President for the TCS Government Solutions Group. "With the JITC certification in place, other DoD customers are able to depend on the TCS SwiftLink solution to meet their critical joint communications requirements."
