TDS(R) Builds on Metaswitch

Eighth Largest Wireline Carrier Lays Firm Foundation for Enhanced Telephony Services

ALAMEDA, CA--(Marketwire - September 7, 2010) -  TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®), the nation's eighth largest wireline carrier, continues to put their trust in Metaswitch platforms and applications.

"Our primary focus is on delighting customers, championing economic development, and continuing broadband innovation," said Ken Paker, vice president of network services at TDS. "With Metaswitch, we see the same high level commitment to the things that matter most to our customers: quality engineering, reliability, exceptional customer support and innovation."

TDS has previously deployed Metaswitch universal gateways and MetaSphere call feature servers for the economic benefits of migrating from TDM to an IP infrastructure for Class 4 switching. This deployment allows TDS to collapse a number of Class 5 central offices, leading to cost savings and operational efficiencies. The next phase of the modernization is to rollout enhanced business and residential services, enabled by the Metaswitch MetaSphere platform.

"We are extremely pleased by, and committed to, this strategic relationship with TDS," said Kevin DeNuccio, CEO at Metaswitch. "TDS' investment is a stand-out example of the long term value that a Metaswitch foundation can bring. By building on Metaswitch, TDS has selected a platform that will allow them to ride a wave of exciting innovation and additional cost-efficiencies."

Founded more than 40 years ago, TDS provides phone, Internet and entertainment services to hundreds of rural, suburban and business communities nationwide.

TDS will provide further insight to their network architecture and use of the Metaswitch platform as part of a keynote speech at the forthcoming Metaswitch Forum, Sept. 21-24 in Orlando, Fla.
