Team Wiggle's Matt Page is Top European Mountain Bike Rider

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Oct. 13, 2010) - Team Wiggle's mountain bike pro rider Matt Page finished sixth at the Solo 24 hour World Championships in Australia. Matt, the UK Solo 24 hour champion, was the top European rider at the event, which was held in Canberra and won by Australian Jason English.

Matt said: "My 21 laps saw me finish in sixth place with Jason English winning with 24 laps. The Aussies were dominant on home soil. It was the conditions rather than the competition I found toughest. I struggled in the very dry heat. I've never ridden in conditions like it."

He added: "The course was extremely brutal, but thanks to good choice in kit I suffered far less than others. My Ergon grips were a godsend as was having 120mm of travel on the mountain bike. I think the most important products were my Exposure lights. With 12 hours of darkness they really helped me make up ground when the temperatures were cooler."

Wiggle bike shop mechanic Ben Jeffrey, together with Matt's fiancée Nia, ran a slick pit set-up, with Matt saying: "They were awesome and deserve a lot of praise. I couldn't have done it without them."

Wiggle shipped Matt's two custom-built Focus First Extreme cycles to Australia ahead of his departure, along with most of his kit and cycling apparel. Matt said: "Wiggle's loyal and generous sponsorship has been terrific and the speed with which my mountain bikes arrived in Australia was amazing. I can see why Wiggle is so popular in Australia!"
