COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwire - Aug 24, 2011) - TeamDynamix today released version 2.0 of its popular desktop project management application, Task Manager. The free project plan management system is a standalone solution and is designed to work seamlessly with TeamDynamix Enterprise Project and Portfolio Management software, which is currently used by more colleges and universities than any other PPM solution. The latest version of Task Manager features a completely overhauled user interface, mirroring the TeamDynamix web-based project management application, Plan Manager. The application is available for download for free to members of TeamDynamix Higher Ed Community; a free online resource for the latest news, information and discussions about PPM in higher education.
Task Manager 2.0 allows users to create, update and manage robust project plans, assign resources, generate custom reporting, and view Gantt charts; among other activities. All of this can be done offline, and then users can save the plans to their computer and/or integrate them seamlessly with the hosted or installed versions of TeamDynamix Enterprise PPM software. In addition to the new interface, the new version includes:
- Dragging and dropping resources onto tasks,
- Search against all task fields,
- Collapsing or expanding parent tasks to various levels,
- Customizable reporting, and
- Ability to copy-paste individual cells.
"While Task Manager is a free application, by no means is it a limited solution," said Andrew Graf, lead analyst for TeamDynamix. "This full-featured desktop solution is intended to be an alternative task management tool for the higher education market allowing users to plan and track projects, assign tasks and optimize team plans using an interactive Gantt Chart. Task Manager's user base continues to grow, much of the popularity driven by word of mouth. Most have been pleasantly surprised by the capabilities of Task Manager, and the latest update demonstrates our commitment to keeping the solution up to date and relevant for our users."
TeamDynamix enterprise customers have access to the professional edition of Task Manager, which is integrated with the Enterprise application and includes additional features. TeamDynamix Task Manager 2.0 requires Windows XP, Vista or 7,.NET Framework 3.5 SP1, and in order to access the server capabilities, users must have access to TeamDynamix Enterprise TDNext 6.3 or later.
