Takeuchi Research Group at the University of Tokyo Selects Tecella Triton for Parallel Bilayer Recording

COSTA MESA, CA--(Marketwire - January 30, 2008) - Tecella LLC announced that Takeuchi Research Group at Institute of Industrial Science, The University of TOKYO, Tokyo, JAPAN has selected the 8-channel Triton patch clamp amplifier for multi-channel parallel recording of planar lipid bilayer arrays.

Takeuchi Research Group (www.hybrid.iis.u-tokyo.ac.jp/intro.php) specializes in merging wide-ranging technologies to cultivate innovative products, and is a global leader in the development of bilayer membrane protein chips. "We were searching for a compact, low-noise, multi-channel amplifier, so the Triton was an ideal fit for us," states Dr. Shoji Takeuchi, Associate Professor. "Furthermore, Tecella was willing and able to customize the amplifier to meet our demanding recording needs in a very timely manner."

Leveraging its flexible ExtenCell™ technology, Tecella developed and delivered a special version of the Triton Patch Clamp Amplifier for bilayer array recording within three weeks of requirements identification. This new version, Triton-B, will be unveiled at the Biophysical Society Annual Meeting in Long Beach, California, on February 3, 2008.

Similar to the Triton, the Triton-B has 8 full-featured patch clamp amplifiers with a 16-bit 8-channel digitizer housed in a compact case measuring just 10" x 7" x 1.5" (25cm x 18cm x 4cm). With a USB 2.0 interface and an external power supply, noise sources can be distanced from the experiment, and this isolation, combined with the enhanced integrated head stages, allows the Triton-B to achieve very low noise levels. Each channel has independent multiple capacitance compensations, series resistance compensation, and programmable Bessel filter. The Triton-B comes bundled with easy-to-use GUI software, and can output to industry standard ATF file format. In addition to the 8-channel model, the Triton-B will be offered in 1, 2, and 4 channel configurations.

Tecella is headquartered in Costa Mesa, California, and specializes in the development of patch clamp amplifier systems and digitizers for the advancement of drug discovery. ExtenCell™ is the name of the core hardware and software technologies of Tecella, and is a trademark of Tecella.
