Tech Council of Maryland Hosts NASDAQ CMO John Jacobs at Year's First Financial Executive Forum Networking Breakfast

Jacobs Explores Impact of Volatile Equity Markets and Future Expectations

ROCKVILLE, MD--(Marketwire - Sep 22, 2011) - The Tech Council of Maryland (TCM), Maryland's largest technology and biotechnology association with nearly 500 members employing more than 250,000 in the region, today hosted John Jacobs, chief marketing officer and executive vice president for The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc., the world's largest exchange company, as the keynote speaker at the organization's Financial Executive Forum (FEF) breakfast.

"The Financial Executive Forum is one of TCM's premier programs designed to bring technology and biotechnology CFOs and the region's financial community together in one room," said Renée Winsky, CEO of TCM. "The FEF strives to offer timely and informative events, like today's featuring John Jacobs from NASDAQ, to our members so they are current on issues impacting their businesses and the financial community."

Jacobs spoke as part of the FEF's first breakfast of the 2011-2012 programming year, which brought together many of the region's high tech and biotech community. His remarks focused on the volatility of the equity markets and how NASDAQ is handling the ups and downs, as well as the impact the economy has had on the stock market and what can be expected for the future. Jacobs also addressed critical issues affecting job creation in the U.S., such as immigration reform, repatriation of taxes for companies doing work overseas and capital gains, as well as the interdependence of economies around the world and how this impacts the U.S.

As NASDAQ's CMO and executive vice president, Jacobs plays a key role in the strategic development and implementation of the company's branding and messaging. His group is responsible for the full spectrum of NASDAQ OMX's brand marketing including advertising, marketing communications, market research, public relations and media relations targeting NASDAQ OMX customers and audiences in the U.S. and abroad. Jacobs also is head of The NASDAQ OMX Global Index Group, for which he is responsible for all aspects of its business development including the creation and licensing of strategy indexes in the U.S. and abroad. Under his direction, NASDAQ launched the NASDAQ-100 Index Tracking Stock, one of the most successful financial products in stock market history.

TCM will be hosting additional FEF events throughout 2011 and 2012. The next events include the FEF Fall Reception at Congressional Country Club on November 10 and the FEF Networking Breakfast on December 6, featuring former two-term Delaware Governor and nine-term Congressman, Mike Castle.
