Tech Council of Maryland's CEO Renee Winsky Receives Technology Advocacy Award From Howard County Technology Council

ROCKVILLE, MD--(Marketwire - November 17, 2010) - The Tech Council of Maryland (TCM), the state's largest technology trade group serving the tech and biotech communities, announced today that its CEO Renée Winsky, received the Technology Advocacy Award last night at the Howard Technology Council's 2010 Annual Technology Awards dinner. The award is presented annually to an individual who has made a significant difference in the technology business community by fostering an improved regulatory business environment to ensure success for emerging and established technology companies in Maryland.

Winsky was selected for this year's award based on her hard work and dedication on behalf of Maryland's technology community during her tenure at the Maryland Technology Development Corporation and her work with TCM during the 2010 legislative session in Annapolis. Under her leadership, TCM achieved a key goal of ensuring that the requested budget appropriation for the Biotech Tax Credit of $6 million was not cut by the legislature, but actively worked towards its increase by an additional $2 million. TCM also advocated on behalf of its members on dozens of bills during the 2010 Maryland General Assembly.

"It is truly an honor to receive this award from the Howard Technology Council," said Winsky. "In addition to our work promoting the tech community in Annapolis this past year, TCM's advocacy efforts have expanded to federal and local initiatives important to our biotech and tech industries. We will continue to work to ensure Maryland maintains and expands its support to one of the states greatest resources: the thriving technology community that delivers jobs and innovation to the nation's economy."
