TechFaith and Epic Games China Sign Licensing Agreement

TechFaith Licenses Unreal Engine 3 for Upcoming MMOGs

BEIJING--(Marketwire - May 12, 2008) - China TechFaith Wireless Communication Technology Limited (NASDAQ: CNTF) ("TechFaith"), an original developed product (ODP) provider focused on research and development of cell phone solutions, today announced the signing of a license agreement with Epic Games China (EPIC) relating to EPIC's Unreal Engine 3 for massively multiplayer online games.

Unreal Engine 3 is a complete game development framework for next-generation consoles and DirectX9/10-equipped PCs, providing the vast array of core technologies, content creation tools, and support infrastructure required by top game developers. Every aspect of the Unreal Engine has been designed with ease of content creation and programming in mind, with the goal of putting as much power as possible in the hands of artists and designers to develop assets in a visual environment with minimal programmer assistance, and to give programmers a highly modular, scalable and extensible framework for building, testing, and shipping games in a wide range of genres.

Mr. Defu Dong, CEO of TechFaith, said, "We are excited about our collaboration with EPIC, as this license agreement will enable us to produce high-quality games to meet the demands and requirements of Chinese gaming consumers. TechFaith is rolling out its plan to get into the gaming market and is off to a great start with such a strong partner as EPIC. As we commence with our gaming strategy, we continue to believe this sector has strong growth potential. Mobile phone games should serve as an excellent springboard to begin penetrating the broader mobile content sector. EPIC's Unreal Engine 3 is one of the most highly acclaimed engines in the market, broadly used by the top game developers. Our progress in this space will help us to capture the potential for our future in the mobile phone gaming space."

"Epic Games China is honored to be providing TechFaith with the core development infrastructure, tools, and technology for its upcoming projects," said Paul Meegan, CEO of Epic Games China. "We're excited that TechFaith has chosen Unreal Engine 3 and look forward to seeing the great games they'll produce with it."
