BEIJING -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 24, 2007 -- China TechFaith Wireless Communication Technology Limited (NASDAQ: CNTF), a handset application software and handset solution provider based in China, today announced a strategic restructuring designed to make the Company more competitive given the rapid changes in the design and ODM space. As part of the restructuring, TechFaith expects to reduce its workforce by approximately 400, leaving approximately 1,400 employees post-restructuring. The Company expects the actions will lower its operating expenses by at least US$2 million per quarter.

We have taken great care in making this decision to ensure that our existing and prospective customers will continue to benefit from the excellent engineering and technical support they have come to expect of TechFaith. Importantly, we believe this action will allow TechFaith to operate more effectively and efficiently, as we focus on returning TechFaith to a trajectory of sustainable, profitable revenue and earnings growth."

Noting the continued positive momentum in its Smartphone business and traction in its ODM business model, TechFaith reiterated prior guidance for the second quarter of 2007, for revenue to be in the range of US$32 million to US$35 million.
