TechLaw Solutions Takes Extensive Step to Further Protect e-Discovery Projects by Achieving Top Level Information Security ISO 27001 Certification

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - Mar 14, 2012) - TechLaw Solutions has achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2005 Information Security Management System Certification to offer greater assurances of the confidentiality and security of client's electronic data.

"With the continually increasing volumes of data, and especially sensitive material, clients are looking for increased surety that their data is safeguarded," said Mel Goldenberg, President of TechLaw Solutions. "We have been preparing for this certification for some time to provide corporations and law firms the highest levels of security we anticipated they would start demanding."

Recognized as the international "gold standard" for information security, ISO 27001 helps ensure the customer's information remains safe with minimal effort on the customer's part. Achieving ISO 27001 certification makes TechLaw Solutions one of the earliest adapters of this top level security among e-Discovery providers.

An information technology platform's security can be measured in simplest form with a vulnerability assessment. While a wide variety of options lay in between this and ISO standards, TechLaw Solutions was looking to meet a higher standard, and therefore sought out a significantly more trusted measure of information security. ISO 27001 represents the only auditable international standard to define the requirements for Information Security Management Systems.

A company must undergo rigorous external audits to demonstrate the highest competency in information security management to achieve the ISO 27001 designation. All employees are also required to participate in the process through education and testing. Certification provides guidelines for implementing risk management processes, provides independent verification that all client data is safe and secure, and shows that the company has taken preventative measures to protect clients' data while observing the highest standards of care.

"It has become of increasing importance to provide assurance to our clients that the security of their data is of the utmost significance," added Kim Proper, Director of IT for TechLaw Solutions. "We are fully committed that all ESI handling and processing is done with a commitment to security and data integrity."

ISO 27001 certification is a time-consuming process in which the organization's information security risks are systematically examined, coherent and comprehensive information security protocols are established to address unacceptable risks, and a risk management process is instituted to ensure information security needs are addressed on an ongoing basis. To maintain ISO certification TechLaw Solutions will continually test, evaluate, and adapt its processes.

TechLaw Solutions' certification process was conducted by BSI, a leading global business services organization for over 100 years, providing standards-based solutions and management systems certification for clients in more than 150 countries. BSI has a recognized reputation for integrity and innovation, helping organizations improve their quality and performance while reducing risk.
