Technolas Perfect Vision Showcasing New All-Laser Femtosecond Cataract and Refractive System at Major US Ophthalmology Meeting

MUNICH, GERMANY--(Marketwire - March 17, 2011) - Technolas Perfect Vision GmbH (TPV), a laser company at the forefront of providing advanced ophthalmic laser procedures, today announced the company's new femtosecond laser cataract and refractive system will be available for ophthalmologists to view at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) meeting in San Diego, from the 26th to the 29th March. TPV is the only company offering both cataract and refractive capabilities on one single femtosecond system.

During the ASCRS congress, ophthalmologists will be able to participate in wetlabs with the TECHNOLAS® Femtosecond Workstation 520F. Wetlab demonstrations will include the latest CUSTOMLENS™* cataract procedure, which is designed to assist the surgeon perform all of the key steps of cataract surgery with greater control and precision compared with standard techniques. TPV expects the CUSTOMLENS™ procedure to receive approval and become commercially available in the second half of 2011, following a recent 510(k) filing for FDA approval.

The TECHNOLAS® Femtosecond Workstation 520F also features the intrastromal treatment for presbyopia known as INTRACOR®**, the CUSTOMFLAP® module for LASIK flap creation, and therapeutic indications which use the CUSTOMSHAPE®** module.
