Technology Veteran Matthew Shanahan Joins BioPassword to Drive Next Wave of Customer Solutions

Former Documentum Executive Brings Key Experience in Delivering Business-Critical Solutions for Global 10,000 Customers

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - January 28, 2008) - BioPassword, Inc., the leading innovator in strong authentication software, today announced the addition of technology industry veteran Matthew Shanahan as senior vice president of marketing and strategy. Building on BioPassword's record customer growth in 2007, Shanahan will drive the strategy for the company's expanding market and product vision -- to meet customer requirements for secure access to enterprise systems and data, including identity protection for the growing mobile and remote workforce.

As mobile and remote workers become an increasing portion of the enterprise, security continues to be a top concern for all organizations. In 2007, the digital identities of employees for Global 10,000 companies were hijacked resulting in the loss of data and records numbering in the millions(1). Strategies for minimizing corporate identity theft will continue and, according to a new study from Forrester Research, 2008 will see large multinational corporations (MNCs) doing more to enhance IT support capabilities for these increasingly mobile global workforces(2).

BioPassword is adapting to this changing market by expanding its secure access offering and forging partnerships with leading providers like Juniper Networks, Citrix, and Fiserv CBS Worldwide to address the needs of larger enterprise customers. Matthew Shanahan joins the company to oversee the planning and execution of BioPassword's market and product line strategy to further address these customer needs.

"BioPassword's unprecedented growth is a direct result of market demand across industries for an easy-to-use, cost-effective authentication solution," said BioPassword CEO Mark Upson. "Matt's appointment shows our commitment to building a world-class team to serve the Global 10,000. His proven track record of increasing the reach and depth of products while exceeding business objectives fits perfectly with BioPassword's goal of delivering value for customers."

"BioPassword's innovative technology has been proven and validated as an integrated platform for secure web and remote access solutions," said Shanahan. "I am excited to join a company with industry-leading technology, and I look forward to collaborating with customers and partners to extend its impact and value."

Shanahan joins BioPassword with nearly 25 years of experience in the technology industry, recently serving as CMO of Teranode Corporation, where he helped to establish the company as the thought leader for informatics infrastructure in the life sciences industry. In addition to his tenure at Teranode, Shanahan was the original product manager at Documentum and spent 10 years in leadership roles until the company was acquired by EMC. Prior to Documentum, Shanahan was a manager at Accenture specializing in advanced enterprise architectures for Global 500 companies. Shanahan earned a BSEE and an MSEE from the University of Washington.
