Technorati Founder David Sifry Joins Interana as Vice President of Engineering

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 7, 2016) - Interana, the leader in behavioral analytics for the digital economy, announced the hiring of serial tech entrepreneur and expert in user-centered product development David Sifry as Vice President of Engineering. In this role, Sifry will be responsible for the strategic development of Interana's behavioral analytics solution and leading the engineering team.

"Because we are building a behavioral analytics solution for dozens of roles inside a company, we needed an engineering leader with strong business acumen and who intimately understands how workers interact with huge volumes of data and the opportunities they can create," said Ann Johnson, CEO at Interana. "David Sifry is one of the most well rounded engineering leaders in Silicon Valley. Through his creation of six different companies, including open source company Linuxcare and engineering the products for companies such as Sputnik and Handle, his experience will be essential as we enter our next major period of growth."

Sifry joins Interana with over 20 years of experience creating, building and running tech companies, and is an authority on engineering products that can drive massive changes in the digital media environment. He founded iconic blog search aggregator Technorati and served as its CEO for five years. Sifry is also a frequent speaker on the topic of entrepreneurship, a passionate developer of technology that delights users and is a Technology Pioneer for the World Economic Forum.

"Interana has broken through a noisy, $30B analytics market and has proven product-market fit in a very short amount of time," said Sifry. "The company has built something with the potential to do for huge volumes of event data what Excel did for spreadsheets 30 years ago. I look forward to tapping into the depth of knowledge, experience and talent at Interana to build an even greater product and empower more people with behavioral analytics to understand their data to pave a new, more successful path forward."

Behavioral analytics is rapidly becoming a critical capability for digital transformation across industries and by the majority of employees in wholly established digital businesses -- from product, growth and marketing to editorial, support and sales. Its growth is being fueled by continued expansion of mobile and web services plus newer cloud, IoT, AI, bots and other kinds of digital services. All of these services produce massive volumes of rich event data. People across the organizations that deliver them are hungry for direct exploratory analysis to discover emergent behaviors to maximize business results. Interana allows interactive iteration over complex behavioral questions all without writing code or depending on data teams for preparation or modeling.

"Few technologies exist in which you can change how fast you can get results. Interana, put in the hands of everyday people, materially changes the entire field they're working in," said Sifry. "Most people move away from using technology that frustrates or confuses them. Interana removes much of the frustration by helping analysts understand their customer's behavior patterns and what people may like and also dislike about their products. Now everyone in the organization is capable of finding new revenue opportunities, making better products and improving customer service."
