Tectonic/Comstock Expands Land Position in White Gold District in the Yukon and Completes Phase Two Follow-Up Soil-Sampling Program

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 14, 2011) - Tectonic Minerals Corp./Comstock Metals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:TEK) -

Highlights

  • 4,017 soil samples collected this year.
  • Golden-Saddle type quartz veins with similar orientations present on the property.
  • The Company expanded the claims area to 494 claims covering 10,374 hectares (25,634 acres).

Tectonic Minerals Corp./Comstock Metals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:TEK) ("the Company") is pleased to provide an update on its QV Claims in the White Gold District in the Yukon.

Property Location & Description:

The QV Claims are about 70 kilometres south of Dawson City within the prolific White Gold District in Yukon Territory. The Company optioned the QV Claims from Shawn Ryan, a Yukon based prospector responsible for the discovery of two of the prominent gold discoveries in the White Gold district: Kinross Gold's 1.5 million ounce Golden-Saddle deposit and Kaminak Gold's Coffee projects. Please refer to the Company's website at the link given for location and other related maps http://www.comstock-metals.com/projects/white_gold_north/.

The Golden Saddle property is host to a resource of 1.5 million ounces of gold and is contiguous to the Company's QV Claims.

Geology and Mineralization:

The QV Claims straddle the same northwest trending airborne magnetic anomaly that is coincident with Kinross's Golden Saddle deposit and may represent a northern extension of the large scale structure which hosts the Golden Saddle deposit. Quartz veins of the same orientation as Golden Saddle have been mapped by Jean Pautler, P.Geo., who is in the process of completing a 43-101 technical report on the QV Claims. Preliminary geophysics surveys indicate that the regional northwesterly structures run through the QV Claims as well as second order structures (east-northeast) which have been identified and mapped on the property during the past summer. Please refer to the link for details: http://www.comstock-metals.com/_resources/01golden-saddle-structure.jpg.

Phase Two Soil Sampling Program:

The 2011 ridge and spur soil-sampling program (Phase One) identified strong anomalous gold zones with co-incident strong pathfinder elements such as As, Sb, Hg, and Ba. The Phase One program identified three obvious areas of gold mineralization, each with strong co-incident pathfinder elements: two in the southern part of the property, and one in the northern part of the property. For detailed maps, please refer to the Company's website: http://www.comstock-metals.com/_resources/02_soils_sampling_phase_2.pdf.

The Company collected 2,617 soil samples in the 2011 Phase Two soil-sampling program. Two north-south grids (grids A and B) covered the gold-in-soils anomalies in the southern part of the property. Grid A comprised 1,477 soil samples in 100-m-apart north-south lines, whereas the soil samples were taken 50-m-apart along the north-south lines. Grid B comprised 511 soil samples in 100-m-apart north-south lines, whereas the soil samples were taken 50-m-apart along the north-south lines. Please see the Company's website for the location of the soil grids. The Company has submitted the samples to ACME Labs and is awaiting results.

Claims Area Expansion

The Company staked an additional 152 claims to expand its land position to 494 claims covering 10,374 hectares (25,634 acres). Because the Phase One ridge and spur soil anomalies indicated that mineralization went beyond the claim boundaries, the Company decided to expand its land position to cover additional possible prospective ground to the north and south of the existing claims.

Corona Gold Silver Project - Mexico:

Tectonic Mineral/Comstock is earning 75% interest through an option agreement from Golden Goliath Resources. Agnico Eagle has signed a Letter of Intent with Golden Goliath on its Las Bolas Project in Uruachic Mining camp in Chihuahua, Mexico. The Company's Corona Gold Silver project is located in the same camp. The Company is planning on starting an exploration program later this fall to drill-test targets generated from previous work. Historic reverse circulation drilling has identified both bulk tonnage and high-grade vein type gold silver targets to be drill-tested with a diamond-drill program.
