TEDxVancouver Announces Official Date and Venue for 2010 Event

North Shore to Play Host to This Year's TEDx Conference with Exciting New Lineup of Speakers to Be Revealed Soon

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 3, 2010) - In the spirit and tradition of TED, TEDxVancouver - a one-day celebration of imagination, inspiration and great ideas- will take place on November 27 at Kay Meek Center on Vancouver's North Shore.

The event's theme this year is "The Fine Line", created to reflect the sometimes contradictory and dichotomous points of view in our rapidly changing world - ranging from art, technology to the environment. The goal behind TEDxVancouver 2010 is to demonstrate how diverse viewpoints are a catalyst for cutting edge technology, world-class research and great works of art. Like TED's own mission "The Fine Line" represents the space where ideas are born.

TEDxVancouver celebrates its second annual event by infusing the world-renowned TED platform with local energy and spirit, in tandem with a line up of outstanding speakers. The speakers for TEDxVancouver are hand picked for their inspired thinking and world acclaimed accomplishments. In the TED tradition, each speaker is challenged to give "the talk of their life" in 18 minutes or less. These talks will be interspersed with mind-blowing performing art demonstrations.

"Being able to bring TEDx back to Vancouver for the second year is an honor for us, and it's a big win for Vancouver. The diversity of speakers, caliber of the audience, and uniqueness of venue will make this a world class event," said TEDx Co-Organizer and Senior Director Cyrus Irani.

TEDxVancouver is privileged to hold the event at one of Vancouver's most acclaimed performing arts centers, Kay Meek. The conference will be accompanied by a select offering of optional pre- and post-event activities, catering to diverse tastes and interests. Attendance in TEDxVancouver is by application through the conference web site at www.TEDxVancouver.com. A broadcast of event will be available in high-quality video for free live viewing on the Internet.
