Teen Allyson Richards Launches Debut Novel in Young Adult (YA) Series

JACKSONVILLE, FL--(Marketwire - Jun 17, 2011) - Allyson Richards started writing her first novel when she was 15 years old. Currently 17, she is developing her supernatural fiction novels into a 4-part series that is sure to capture the hearts of readers, from early tweens to Twilight moms and book lovers in between.

We are in an age of a reading renaissance, where Young Adult (YA) novels like Harry Potter, Twilight and Hunger Games spark infectious interest in books at an early age. A perhaps unexpected -- but welcomed -- effect of this generation is young aspiring writers.

While some may say Allyson is too young to become an author to hit the shelves, others see it as an advantage. For example, Allyson writes from the mind-set of a teenager and doesn't pretend to interject overused phrases or unrealistic emotions within her characters.

Early reviews:

"I was so impressed ... well-thought out plot, engaging characters and fascinating plot twists."
-- Kristin Harmel, author of AFTER, ITALIAN FOR BEGINNERS and four other novels.

"Allyson is a rare author. She writes YA brilliantly. She knows the target audience because she is the target audience. She's tapped into zeitgeist of those her age and writes with intimateease."
--Sharon Y. Cobb, Director of The University of North Florida's Writers Conference, Member of WGA, Writer of Lighthouse Hill and other features.

"I found Allyson to be a very bright and talented writer full of fresh ideas... her wit was only overshadowed by her patience and sensitivity to the writing process."
--John Benjamin Martin, Writer WGA

Also, Allyson's heroine Alexis Randall tackles different aspects of teen life, in a not-so-real story. "From battling bullies to family problems, these are all things I've gone through personally," Allyson explains. "When I write, I find it helps me to escape...I hope by reading my books, it helps teens do the same."

Allyson also participates in cheerleading, horseback riding and attends Christ Church Academy in Jacksonville, FL. She is speaking at many local schools, book clubs and events regarding leadership and positive steps teens take to achieve their dreams. She will be a guest speaker in the Young Authors' conference this August.
