Tekelec and Romanian Operator to Present at Number Portability 2009 Conference

Joint Presentation With COSMOTE Romania to Share Best Practices for Number Portability Implementations

BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwire - September 21, 2009) - Tekelec (NASDAQ: TKLC) and COSMOTE Romanian Mobile Telecommunications will examine real-time number portability implementation in Romania at Number Portability 2009. The conference will be held September 21-23, 2009 at the Hotel Barcelona Princess in Barcelona, Spain.

Kurt Damm, director of technical sales support at Tekelec, and Adrian Degeratu, switching manager at COSMOTE Romania, will address number portability technical specifications, planning and deployment, as well as the advantages of harmonized real-time network solutions within a country. They will outline best practices and lessons learned in Romania, including inter-operator testing, direct routing solutions, and subscriber-based routing. The presentation is scheduled for September 22 at 2 p.m. local time.

COSMOTE Romania, a member of the Greek-based COSMOTE Group, deployed Tekelec's number portability solution in 2008. At the end of June 2009, COSMOTE Romania said it exceeded 6.3 million subscribers, and has gained the most new customers in Romania from number portability.

Tekelec's number portability offering, available on the industry-leading EAGLE® 5 signaling platform, has been ordered or deployed with 91 operators in 32 countries.
