Tektronix Showcases Innovative Product and Technology Solutions at IBC 2008
Portfolio of Video Test Products Address Digital Video Delivery and Quality Challenges
BEAVERTON, OR--(Marketwire - September 12, 2008) - Tektronix Inc., a leading, worldwide provider
of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, is showcasing product
and technology solutions across its portfolio at IBC 2008, September 12-16,
2008 on stand 9.E30. The company is displaying its solutions for
file-based video, MPEG, SD and HD and next generation compression technologies to meet the needs
for almost every point in the digital ecosystem, underpinning the explosion
of digital
video applications.
TG700 with 1080p SDI Signal Generation Facilitates 3Gbps Services Roll-out
At IBC, Tektronix is showcasing significant upgrades for the successful
TG700 modular multi-format precision video
signal generator including the addition of 1080p SDI signal generation
on a single link. This capability is added through the new 3Gbps HD3G7
module which supports both Level A and Level B 1080p SMPTE formats. The
3Gbps HD3G7 modules assist video equipment designers and manufacturers to
get to market quickly and efficiently and facilitate early 3Gbps services
roll out for broadcasters and post-production operators.
The TG700 is a modular platform that offers great flexibility for customers
to choose precisely the output signal types that they need, and provides an
immediate upgrade path for those who wish to purchase a signal generator
now but add 3Gbps outputs at a later date.
TG700 with GPS-based Synchronization and Timecode Generation
Tektronix is also showcasing a GPS and timecode module for the TG700
modular multi-format precision signal generator. The GPS7 module allows the
TG700 to act as a master clock and synchronization system, including video
reference and timecode, for broadcast and post-production operators. A GPS
clock can simplify facility configuration by supplying all necessary clock
signals from a single worldwide reference.
The GPS7 module for the TG700 provides broadcasters with the option of
having all the video reference signals in their facility locked to an
extremely stable source, preventing any long-term drift. For
post-production applications, the GPS7 module with the TG700 provides
flexible timecode support. Many post-production houses work with multiple
video formats simultaneously, so the ability to support multiple video and
timecode formats is important.
ANC Data Inspector for the Successful WFM Series
Also on the stand, the new "ANC Data Inspector" enhances the Ancillary
(ANC) data monitoring capabilities of the WFM7120 and WFM6120 waveform
monitors for broadcast monitoring applications. The "ANC Data Inspector"
provides an industry leading solution to help broadcasters easily and
accurately ensure that all required ANC data is present and correctly
configured through an intuitive ANC data display. For ANC data, which is
flagged with errors, engineers are quickly guided to a more detailed view
of the data packed content for further analysis. The "ANC Data Inspector"
provides the capability to monitor and diagnose ANC data with a common user
interface resulting in a more efficient workflow.
WFM5000/WVR5000 with New TandemVu Display
On display will be the new TandemVu Display capability for the Tektronix
WFM5000 waveform monitors and WVR5000 rasterisers, launched earlier this
year, which provide the ability to overlay waveform and vector displays and
waveform and lightning displays and position flexibly in full screen mode.
It also allows magnification of each trace individually based on specific
user preferences. The resulting display is akin to having two tiles in full
screen size overlaid plus a thumbnail picture display as required.
TandemVu provides broadcast operators with a more efficient and effective
way to adjust and balance cameras in either broadcast studios or outside
broadcast (OB) vans. The WFM5000/WVR5000 with TandemVu enables broadcast
operators to personalise the screen display based on their individual
application needs. For easy documentation, the personalized screen display
can also be captured and stored in bitmap file format on a USB storage
device.
Other highlights on the Tektronix stand include:
-- The WFM4000 and WFM5000 waveform monitors and WVR4000 and WVR5000 waveform rasterisers that offer the best price/performance in the
industry and leading ease of use.
-- Upgrades to the Tektronix WFM and WVR series including the addition of
3Gbps Single Link Serial Digital Interface (SDI) support to the WFM7020 and
WFM7120 waveform monitors.
-- The latest Tektronix MPEG solution; the MTM400A MPEG
Transport Stream Monitor. The MTM400A features the powerful FlexVuPlus
user interface that leverages the deep measurement capabilities of the MTM
platform to deliver greatly simplified DTV monitoring and diagnostics.
-- Cerify®,
the world's first fully automated system capable of verifying the quality
of file-based, compressed digital video and audio content prior to
transmission or use.
-- The award-winning PQA500 that
provides the most complete suite of measurement and diagnostic tools for
picture quality analysis including full support of high definition (HD)
formats.
