Telco Systems Announces MEF 9 and 14 Certification

MEF Certifications Will Dramatically Improve the Interoperability and Performance Challenges of Deploying Carrier Ethernet Services and Accelerate Worldwide Adoption

FOXBORO, MA--(Marketwire - January 30, 2008) - Telco Systems has announced that its T-Marc 300 series and T-Marc 25x series service demarcation product lines have received MEF 9 and MEF 14 certification in accordance with the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)-approved test plans for Ethernet services and traffic management.

The test plan defines requirements for delivery of services across an Ethernet Private Line (EPL), Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and E-LAN (Ethernet-Local Area Network) networks. MEF Certification addresses the interoperability and performance issues confronted by service providers looking to deploy Carrier Ethernet services and to accelerate the adoption of Carrier Ethernet services worldwide.

As service-oriented test specifications, MEF 9 and MEF 14 are defined from the subscriber's point of view at the UNI (User Network Interface) where the subscriber and service provider areas of responsibility meet. MEF 9 tests include service attributes such as CE-VLAN ID preservation, multiplexing and bundling, and MEF 14 tests for EVC related performance including frame delay, frame delay variation, and frame loss ratio, as well as bandwidth profile service attributes including per Ingress UNI, per EVC, and per Class of Service.

"This combination of comprehensive test cases determines the readiness of a Metro Ethernet Network (MEN) to deliver various Ethernet Services," stated Bob Mandeville, president of Iometrix, the testing laboratory responsible for the MEF test plan and certification process. Iometrix is the networking industry's preeminent testing authority.
