TELE Greenland and Cisco Bring IP Next-Generation Network to World's Largest Island

TELE Greenland Selects Cisco ASR 1000 Series Router for Its Performance, Functionality and Small Carbon Footprint

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK--(Marketwire - May 8, 2008) - Cisco® (NASDAQ: CSCO) announced today that TELE Greenland A/S, the telecommunications and postal services provider for Greenland, is transforming its data network into an Internet Protocol Next-Generation Network (IP NGN) to deliver broadband Internet access, telephone and video entertainment services to more than 24,000 subscribers. The network transformation will be implemented by NetDesign, a Cisco Gold Certified Partner, and will be based on Cisco's most powerful compact router, the ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Service Router, which launched on March 4 and established a new price/performance class for intelligent edge routing platforms for business and consumer services. The order was placed on the first day that the Cisco ASR 1000 Series router was made available.

"Cisco and NetDesign are helping us to realize our vision of bringing people closer together through access to next-generation broadband services," said Jørn Jespersen, chief technical officer of TELE Greenland. "When we evaluated the design based on Cisco's ASR routers, we were immediately excited by the possibilities of such a powerful platform, which can deliver so many services with such a small carbon footprint. I believe this will make Greenland's IP-based next-generation network one of the most advanced, and also one of the greenest, in the world."

"This deal with TELE Greenland shows why the Nordic region continues to top the ranks in broadband penetration and network readiness," said Niels Munster-Hansen, general manager of Cisco Denmark. "Because of the innovation that Cisco introduced with the ASR 1000 Series, both residents and businesses in Greenland can look forward to enjoying the benefits of a 'Connected Life' with access to world-class communication and entertainment services from any location and on any device."

"NetDesign is working with Cisco to deliver solutions for the next evolution of the Internet and this announcement with TELE Greenland puts us at the forefront of IP NGN development for the region," said Morten Kolind, sales director at NetDesign. "The ASR 1000 Series offers service providers such a quantum leap in networking technology that it will be difficult for anyone else to match its performance, scalability and reliability."
