TeleCommunication Systems to Present at the Third Annual Homeland Security Investor Conference

ANNAPOLIS, MD--(Marketwire - October 17, 2008) - TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), leading provider of mission-critical wireless communications, has been invited to present at the third annual Homeland Security Investor Conference (HSIC) to be held on October 21-22, 2008 at The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C.

TeleCommunication Systems chairman, president and CEO, Maurice B. Tosé, and senior vice president and CFO, Tom Brandt, are scheduled to present on Wednesday, October 22 at 10:10 a.m. Eastern Time.

Management will discuss the company's recent financial results and company progress. The company reported preliminary third quarter 2008 revenue of $50 million, up 14% from $44 million in the previous quarter and up 33% from $38 million in the third quarter of 2007. This was the company's third consecutive quarter of record revenue. Third quarter-end cash and equivalents increased by $10 million from the previous quarter to $38 million. TCS was selected in August as the U.S. Army's sole awardee of a contract with an initial order and options for up to $246 million of deployable satcom system-related deliverables through November 2011, raising the company's total backlog to a record $450 million.
