TELEHOUSE's New York & Los Angeles Internet Exchanges' 4th Quarter Peak Traffic Volume Points Upward Again

NYIIX Pushes Past 22 Gbps; LAIIX Eclipses 3.5 Gbps

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 28, 2007 --The New York Internet Exchange (NYIIX) and The Los Angeles Internet Exchange (LAIIX) closed out 2006 with a strong fourth quarter of activity. Peak traffic volume for metro New York's largest peering exchange, NYIIX, topped the 22 Gbps mark. In Los Angeles LAIIX continued its steady growth in peak traffic volume; having reached 3.5 Gbps in its final quarter of activity.

The newest additions to the membership list at NYIIX were Euroaccess, PINS, Swiftwill, Swisscom and Trade the News. Upgrading their capabilities were FreeNet, Time Warner Cable and Choopa. On the west coast LAIIX's membership added Secure Private Networks, and China Netcom.

"In 2006 our Internet exchanges hit new highs in peak traffic volume and membership. This success is attributable to several factors," said Michael Vallone, head of marketing at TELEHOUSE America. "Greater numbers of current and new members opted for our 10GigE interface. Media and entertainment companies gravitated to the economic opportunities presented by peering at NYIIX and LAIIX. The exchanges' membership became more diverse making a noticeable business impact on fellow members and customers at 25 Broadway ('25B'), 60 Hudson Street, 111 Eighth Avenue, 626 Wilshire and One Wilshire."

TELEHOUSE America operates NYIIX out of the BROADWAY Center ("25B") at 25 Broadway, along with its 111 Eighth and 60 Hudson remote switches -- all in Manhattan, NY. Through new diverse broadband connectivity, NYIIX is now accessible from TELEHOUSE Center ("7T") at The Teleport, The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey-operated Corporate Park in New York City's Borough of Staten Island. The LOS ANGELES Center, at 626 Wilshire Blvd. ("626W") in downtown L.A., houses LAIIX, whose dark fiber connection to the 1 Wilshire Boulevard carrier hotel offers direct access to all of the carriers there.
