Telekom Austria Selects Nortel, Kapsch CarrierCom For Nationwide VoIP Solution

VoIP Network Upgrade Provides SIP Communications to Consumer and Business Customers

VIENNA, AUSTRIA--(Marketwire - March 2, 2009) - Telekom Austria, the largest telecommunications company in Austria with more than 2.4 million customers, has selected Nortel(1) (TSX:NT)(OTCBB:NRTLQ) and Kapsch CarrierCom to evolve its nationwide network to support VoIP technologies. This will enable Telekom Austria to offer SIP communications services to consumer and business customers.

The solution, based on Nortel's Communication Server (CS) 2000 allows Telekom Austria to seamlessly migrate end-users' voice services to IP with no service interruptions. Nortel's CS 2000 is one of the leading IP Multimedia softswitches and supports Class 5 and Class 4 as well as a wide range of business and consumer voice and multimedia features integrated into a single platform.
