Telenor Norway's Reuse Initiative With Trade Wings Named Among World's Top 100 Supply Chain Projects for 2011

Leading Business Publication Recognizes Significant Financial and Environmental Benefits of Operator's Approach to Optimizing Lifecycle of Used Network Material

PORTSMOUTH, NH--(Marketwire - May 9, 2011) - Trade Wings today announced that the Reuse Markets strategy implemented by its customer Telenor Norway -- one of the world's largest mobile operators -- to mitigate the financial and environmental risks of a national network upgrade has been named to this year's list of "100 Great Supply Chain Projects" by the editors of Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine.

"In selecting our annual Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100, we sought to highlight forward-thinking projects that have delivered truly outstanding business results," said Andrew Reese, Editorial Director of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. "Telenor's innovative Reuse program with Trade Wings represents a fresh approach to maximizing the lifecycle and financial return of de-installed network material in the reverse logistics process."

As a result of the upgrade, Telenor Norway is swapping 10,000 mobile network base stations, producing an estimated 1,500 tons of excess, used equipment not yet at the end of its useful life. Through Trade Wings' Reuse Cloud®-enabled services, Telenor is able to quickly assess whether decommissioned network assets can be first reused in one of its other networks to reduce mounting equipment and repair costs, resold to operators of similar networks to generate revenue, or recycled locally in an eco-friendly way to recoup precious metal value and limit transportation events.

"Environmental responsibility is a core tenet of our operating philosophy, and this initiative has allowed us to further advance that commitment," said Torild Lid Uribarri, Director of Communications and Social Responsibility, Telenor Norway. "Trade Wings helped us to achieve our goals quickly without disruption to our business processes or systems. The results have been so impressive that the project has been extended to support our network upgrade in Sweden, with strong interest from other operators in the Telenor Group."

"We're delighted that Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine has chosen to recognize the success of Telenor's Reuse Markets strategy in Norway," said Mark Portu, President and COO of Trade Wings. "The concepts of ROI and sustainability are two things not typically associated with network upgrades, but our relationship with Telenor has shown that it is possible to enhance financial gain while simultaneously mitigating environmental risk."
