TelePacific Selects Service Quality Management Software From West Ridge Networks to Monitor and Report on Customer Experience

California Based Competitive Local Exchange Carrier Deploys SQMworks Across MPLS Network to Ensure Quality of IP Services

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 23, 2005 -- TelePacific Communications a leading provider of business telecommunications services, today announced that it has deployed West Ridge Networks' SQMworks service quality management solution across its IP-MPLS backbone in California and Nevada. TelePacific is using SQMworks to monitor the OSPF routing control plane, discover MPLS tunnels and correlate network performance to the quality of the IP services TelePacific delivers to its customers.

TelePacific is the leading business-oriented Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) in California and Nevada offering customers local, long distance, data and Internet access services. A facilities-based CLEC, TelePacific operates a network serving fifteen major markets in both states, including Los Angeles, Orange County, Inland Empire, Palm Springs, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, East Bay, North Bay, Greater Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, Fresno and Bakersfield and Las Vegas. The network includes 6 Lucent 5ESS switches, 165 hub and collocation locations and an IP-MPLS backbone based on equipment from Cisco Systems. TelePacific has more than 330,000 lines in service and over $170 million in annual revenues from retail services.

Unlike simple probe-based solutions that treat the underlying network and services as a "black box," SQMworks is a routing peer in IP networks enabling it to learn the entire network topology from information in the routing control plane. The software then interrogates network elements for device and configuration information, providing a complete and real-time correlation between the network and the services delivered over it. Finally, TelePacific uses the active test capabilities of SQMworks to proactively monitor the performance of the advanced IP services delivered by the network.

"With its aggressive push into IP data services, TelePacific will use SQMworks to ensure the highest quality services across its dynamic and rapidly growing IP network," said Hugh Kelly, president and CEO of West Ridge Networks. "As service quality becomes increasingly critical TelePacific is able to utilize our technology to make performance management an active participant in the network."

Optimized for IP, SQMworks is a scalable service quality management (SQM) tool that enables TelePacific to automatically detect network elements and topology, visualize actual network performance, report on service performance and deliver measurable SLAs to enterprise customers. Using SQMworks, TelePacific can proactively manage services and infrastructure and drive down operational costs while deploying high-value IP services to enterprise customers.

"From our employee training to network investments, our number one priority is customer service, which is why our churn rate is less than one percent -- an industry best," said Dan Rudd, TelePacific's vice president of network engineering and operations. "SQMworks enables us to ensure we are delivering the highest quality IP services to our customers by providing real-time, actionable data on network performance and detailed customer focused performance reports, something no one else offers."
