Telepin Software Reaches Major Milestone; Surpasses One Million Merchants

Global mobile money platforms gaining traction among operators, merchants, banks and consumers

OTTAWA, CANADA--(Marketwire - Jan. 24, 2012) - Telepin Software, a leading provider of mobile money transaction platforms, today announced that the company has reached several significant milestones, including surpassing one million merchants active on its global customers' mobile money networks. The company also now services over 132 million subscribers via mobile operator deployments in the Middle East, South East Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

"The growth of mobile money, mobile commerce, and mobile payments continues as the single most value added service on which operators have focused their attention the last several years," said Telepin CEO Vincent Kadar. "The overall growth of our customer's merchant networks and the significant achievement of one million active merchants illustrates the market need for our solutions. Based on market activity, the explosion of these markets will continue for the next few years. We see greater demand for our mobile transaction platforms than we ever have globally."

Telepin mobile financial software products provide mobile operators the ability to deliver robust financial services offerings to their subscriber and merchant customers. Telepin's software plugs seamlessly into existing mobile infrastructure, leveraging the investments already made in charging systems, replenishment systems, and value added service delivery platforms.

Traffic on Telepin-powered networks tops 1,100 TPS (transactions per second). That capacity delivers over 31 million transactions every day by all Telepin platforms deployed in its operators. "This marks another major milestone for Telepin Software and is an affirmation of the market need and a testament to the robust platform we have deployed in our customers' networks. We continue to ensure our customers receive the best in class software that can extend to other areas of the mobile money ecosystem to ensure a competitive offering that is far beyond the competition," said Mr. Kadar.

Telepin now has over 30 active mobile money deployments around the world. The company recently announced that it is powering mHawala, Etisalat Afghanistan's full mobile financial services (MFS) offering that includes central bank cooperation, banking ecosystem participation, utility merchant involvement, and salary disbursement. Telepin is also behind Digicel Pacific and Papua New Guinea's recently- launched Digicel Mobile Money and cellmoni, a unique mobile money service which offers Papua New Guineans (PNG) a range of financial services, as well as Post PNG's MobileSMK and MiCash from Nationwide Microbank.

Telepin will be presenting at Mobile Money Transfer APAC from January 30 to February 2, Mobile World Congress from February 27 to March 1, and Mobile Money Americas from March 26-29.
