Tellabs Approved for Network Security, Availability and Interoperability by JITC

Tellabs® Optical LAN SR29 Passes Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) Certification and Is Approved by U.S. Department of Defense for Immediate Deployment in Armed Services and Federal Government Local Area Networks

NAPERVILLE, IL--(Marketwired - March 30, 2016) - Tellabs, a leading provider of passive optical network (PON) solutions, successfully completed another round of JITC testing for Tellabs Optical LAN (OLAN) Gigabit Passive Optical Network (G-PON) software and hardware. This System Release 29 (SR29) JITC certification reaffirms Tellabs' commitment to deliver Passive Optical LAN solutions to the U.S. armed services and federal government.

JITC is the Department of Defense (DoD) interoperability certifier and operational test agency for Information Technology (IT) and national security systems. JITC provides risk based test evaluation and certification services, tools and environments to ensure IT capabilities are interoperable and support mission critical needs.

All of Tellabs' Optical LAN customers benefit from JITC certification because it confirms interoperability in a real-world multi-vendor enterprise LAN environment, from core routers to desk top devices. The JITC testing process also certifies Tellabs for Assured Services LAN (ASLAN) deployments by evaluating Tellabs' industry leading availability, redundancy and survivability. Under the authority of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), JITC administers stringent risk management framework criteria through Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) in a public forum. Any of Tellabs' customers concerned about information assurance, cybersecurity and network security compliance, such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) has full access to Tellabs Optical LAN's JITC test results.

"Tellabs is the only Passive Optical LAN system that is JITC certified for deployments requiring Assured Services LAN high availability," said Mike Dagenais, Tellabs President and CEO. "JITC certification takes a significant investment in resources, time and money. Tellabs does this because we strongly believe this security, availability and interoperability testing is important to the industry, to all markets, and all our customers."
