TELUS Upgrades to Mantas Fraud Management System 3.1

NEW YORK--(CCNMatthews - Sep 26, 2005) -

TELUS Communication Company, the 2nd largest telecommunication company in CANADA, will have a new powerful tool to combat fraud by upgrading to the Mantas Fraud Management System 3.1™. This large telecommunications firm can now patrol traffic over its wireless, wireline and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) networks simultaneously, on a single platform, using a common database.

Attacking gaps in providers' security measures, the breadth and sophistication of telecommunications fraud is on the rise and the introduction of next generation networks only complicate matters for security executives.

Traditional security platforms protect each network separately, allowing fraudsters to identify weaknesses 'between' systems. Mantas' new release of Fraud Management System effectively plugs these holes, offering a real-time, comprehensive fraud detection, management and deterrence system.

"Mantas Fraud Management System 3.1 is deployed in a single code base that allows us to install the same solution across our existing customers such as TELUS, BellSouth Long Distance, Verizon Long Distance and future customers," said Adam Maghrouri, Head of Telecom at Mantas. "Customers have the flexibility to control specific features through configuration settings, and realize reduced time and cost of implementation with the products tested and proven platform."

"Oftentimes customers say that the proposition of offering more services can be overwhelming," said Maghrouri. "They want to add new products and build their customer base, but the added security and technical issues weigh heavily on their decision. With this version of Fraud Management System, we can stifle their fears, and in fact, give them more control."

Database functionality is increased with Fraud Management System 3.1, as it supports Oracle 9i and 9i Real Application Clusters (RAC). The distributed architecture of the platform is designed to allow for cost-effective scaling, up or down, to all types of carriers, protecting the overall investment. Administrator tasks are improved with more informative audit-trail logging, GUI-based mediation maintenance and look-up tables.

Novel features include hot-pair number support that allows customers to create alerts based on a specific pair of originating and terminating number combinations, and rule pre-validation that helps validate errors in user defined alerts prior to creating large amounts of undesired data. Enhancements have also been made to the workflow process resulting in faster issue resolution.
