Telvent to Upgrade Monterrey's Metro Network in Mexico

MADRID, SPAIN -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 24, 2006 -- Telvent GIT S.A. (NASDAQ: TLVT), the Global RealTime IT Company, today announced that it has signed a four million euro contract with Siemens AG, in Mexico, to upgrade the ticketing system of the city of Monterrey's Metro Network (Transporte Colectivo Metro de Monterrey), located in the northeastern region of Mexico.

Telvent will provide its contact-free technology systems, which will be installed in a total of 24 stations on the two Monterrey metro lines that total more than 30 kilometers, and on the three Transmetro bus routes that will utilize this same technology. In addition, Telvent will develop the enlargement project for the seven new stations on line 2 that will extend to the municipalities of San Nicolas and Escobedo on the outskirts of the city.

According to Telvent's chairman and chief executive officer, Manuel Sanchez Ortega, "This contract, the most important that our Company has signed within Mexico's transport sector, will provide the city's more than three and a half million inhabitants with the technology required for a quicker and more efficient transport system."

Telvent's contact-free technology will allow users to manage the recharging of their transport passes, consult their balance or validate their trips by simply placing the cards close to the automatic selling machines or the turnstiles. The entire management and control system is based on the "Mobifast" platform that endows the operator with greater flexibility in fare management while optimizing passenger access regulation and simplifying card recharging, validation and purchase processes for the user.
