Tempered Networks Named Industry Innovator by SC Media

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - Dec 15, 2016) - Tempered Networks, the pioneer of Identity-Defined Networking (IDN), today announced that SC Media (formerly SC Magazine), has named Tempered Networks a 2016 Industry Innovator for security infrastructure. This marks the third consecutive year Tempered Networks has received this honor from the editors at SC Media.

The fact that the world spent nearly $85B on networking security in 2016 is evidence that the way in which we secure today's networks is unsustainable. At its core, there are two issues: How we identify network devices, and the fact that all devices are, by default, visible to everyone.

For the first time in the industry, Tempered Networks Identity-Defined Network (IDN) fixes both of these root problems. First, IDN orchestrates and issues unique cryptographic identities to IDN endpoints, which becomes the new identity for all trusted TCP/IP communications. No data communications can occur between IDN endpoints and the protected devices behind them, unless explicit trust is authorized. This is akin to a unique fingerprint, but for network devices. Therefore, trust is based on non-spoofable identities that are centrally managed, where all networked communication is based on explicit, verified device or host identity, not an ephemeral IP address.

Second, the Identity-Defined Network defaults to invisible and all devices are cloaked unless administrators make them visible. In this way, the CEO's laptop is visible to the Oracle server and other internal resources, for example, yet invisible to outsiders looking to penetrate the network. An invisible device on the network is virtually impossible to breach when it can't be seen by hackers in the first place.

"We're so pleased to be named an Industry Innovator by SC Media," said Erik Giesa, VP of Product Management at Tempered Networks. "Our advanced IDN orchestration engine makes it simple to cloak, connect, segment, move, revoke, or provide failover for any or all networked things within the encrypted IDN fabric, at scale. Because Tempered Networks' foundation is based upon the open Host Identity Protocol (HIP) standard, the IDN fabric is both backward and forward compatible, making it simple, fast, and predictable to deploy, with little to no modification of the underlying infrastructure."

About Tempered Networks
Tempered Networks is the pioneer of Identity-Defined Networking (IDN), driving a new identity paradigm that bases trust on the host identity itself, not a spoofable IP address. Our elastic and fully encrypted IDN fabric protects every connected resource with a unique cryptographic identity, enabling you to securely network, cloak and orchestrate any 'thing', anywhere, anytime -- instantly. For the first time, device-based trust is flexible and portable and extends from any external and public cloud network, to internal network hosts and clients. Any IP resource can be instantly provisioned or moved, making your network as adaptable as software, yet more secure, and simpler to manage. For more information, visit www.temperednetworks.com.
