Ten Sonitrol Franchises Named Among Nation's Top Security Companies for 2014

INDIANAPOLIS, IN--(Marketwired - June 25, 2014) - Sonitrol, who celebrates their 50th anniversary this year, announces that ten of their 85 independent dealerships have been ranked among the top 100 security companies in the United States, according to the 2014 SDM 100, the annual rankings published by SDM Magazine. Sonitrol is an industry leader in verified security and managed access control solutions for homes, schools and businesses, and offers custom state-of-the-art security solutions for intrusion, video, access control, and fire detection.

For each of the past 24 years, SDM Magazine has published the SDM 100, ranking the 100 largest security companies in the U.S. The rankings are derived from each company's recurring monthly revenue (RMR), as of December 31, 2013, which includes the monitoring, service and leasing revenue of electronic security systems. With 10 different franchises included in the SDM 100 in 2014, Sonitrol franchises account for 10% of the top 100 security companies in the country.

"It is an honor to have so many Sonitrol franchises recognized on the SDM 100 rankings again in 2014," said Bruce Winner, Director of the Sonitrol brand. "Internationally, the Sonitrol name has always been synonymous with verified alarms, and known for offering the most comprehensive security solutions in the industry. We are extremely proud of the quality of service we provide to our customers, and I think that is reflected by the 2014 rankings."

The Sonitrol franchises included in the 2014 SDM 100 rankings are: Interface Security Systems Holdings (Earth City, MO), Kimberlite Corporation (Fresno, CA), Sonitrol of New England (Hartford, CT), Sonitrol Pacific (Seattle, WA), Sonitrol of Buffalo/Rochester/Toronto, Sonitrol of Tallahassee, Sonitrol of Tri County (Grand Blanc, MI), Sonitrol Southwest Ohio (Dayton, OH), Sonitrol of Lexington and Sonitrol of Indianapolis.

Additionally, Stanley Convergent Security Solutions, who operates 45 branches where Sonitrol products and services are provided, was ranked # 3 on the SDM 100 List.

According to SDM Magazine, in 2014 "companies that weighed in on the active market segments seemed to agree that business in commercial markets outpaced residential, with the exception of multi-family sales." Commercial markets excelling over residential markets may be attributed to an increase in available funds for commercial growth due to the decline in commercial lending. In the past year, SDM Magazine reported a 3.3 percent gain in RMR among the top security companies in the United States. SDM 100 companies noted gains in areas that include technology businesses, medical/healthcare, manufacturing/distribution, utilities, energy, corporate office space and small commercial businesses.

As Sonitrol celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2014, the SDM 100 rankings reflect the leadership and history that has helped the company to evolve into one of the largest commercial security companies in North America. Sonitrol, the company that invented verified alarms, was founded in 1964 by Al Cronk, an Anderson, IN police officer, and Robert Baxter, the inventor who's acoustic devices for pest extermination served as the security company's original verification technology. To accommodate Officer Cronk and the Anderson Police Department's desire to capture intruders in the act, Baxter adapted his audio sensors for human detection, and Sonitrol was born as the first verified security company. Alarms with enhanced verification technology provide the highest degree of safety and efficiency, allowing for the most comprehensive security solution for the customer, through real-time monitoring and operator intelligence. Verification results in quicker, safer, and more effective responses to activated alarms from local law enforcement.
