TENATIVE CONTRACT REACHED ON DAY 22 OF LAKESIDE PACKERS STRIKE:

RATIFICATION VOTE TO COMMENCE ON FRIDAY Attention: Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, City Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor BROOKS, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 2, 2005) - A tentative collective agreement has been reached between UFCW Canada Local 401 and Lakeside Packers, subject to ratification by the membership.

Announcement of the tentative deal on a first collective agreement came earlier today on the 22nd day of a strike at the slaughterhouse and processing facility in Brooks, Alberta.

Lakeside Packers normally handles about 40% of all cattle processed in Canada but production has been crippled since the strike began on October 12th.

The plant is owned by Arkansas-based Tyson Foods

UFCW Canada Local 401 has recommended the tentative settlement to its members. The ratification vote will commence on Friday and will continue throughout the weekend.

UFCW Canada is one of Canada's largest private sectors unions with over 230,000 members working in the food retailing and processing, warehousing, security, hospitality, office, and health care sectors.
