TeraRecon Announces 1000-License Milestone for Aquarius 3D Product Family

SAN MATEO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 26, 2005 -- TeraRecon, Inc. today announced it has issued more than 1000 licenses worldwide for its Aquarius family of 3D workstations and enterprise servers. The company reported that sales bookings were 90% higher for the 12 months ending September 2005 over the prior 12-month period. To date, TeraRecon has shipped in excess of 12,000 VolumePro 3D rendering boards to its OEM 3D rendering partners. These results are indicative of the strong differentiation of TeraRecon's hardware technology and product offerings over the competition, and the widespread market acceptance of its AquariusNET 3D enterprise server solution in the US and overseas.

Robert Taylor, Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer of TeraRecon, said, "Since the FDA clearance of AquariusNET in late 2001, this disruptive technology has remained the undisputed leader in clinically viable client-server 3D, thanks to the unique power and scalability of TeraRecon's VolumePro 3D rendering technology. VolumePro enables us to deliver sufficient server-side rendering power to truly support a reliable enterprise-wide 3D application, and although we have seen attempts at competition with AquariusNET in the past, these GPU and software-based server solutions have always fallen short in comparison. We believe that VolumePro will remain a differentiating technology platform that keeps AquariusNET clearly in the lead as the best-in-class enterprise 3D server solution for volumetric imaging."

The AquariusNET Server product delivers distributed 3D visualization capabilities throughout an entire hospital or group of hospitals by simply connecting the system to the facility's network. To activate the 3D functionality on any number of PC systems, users simply download a small client application from the server to regular PCs. 3D functionality can then be accessed anywhere on the hospital's network enterprise from physician reading rooms to the surgery suite. Physicians can access the system outside the hospital by connecting to the system via a broadband Internet or LAN.
