TeraRecon's iNtuition(TM) Client-Server 3D Solution Showcases Endovascular and Surgical Planning Clinical Tools Available When and Where You Need Them Throughout Your Enterprise

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - September 13, 2008) - TeraRecon, Inc. (www.terarecon.com), a leading provider of advanced visualization software, today announced new innovations in endovascular and interventional planning software for its' Aquarius iNtuition™ advanced visualization solution that will be showcased at the upcoming CIRSE Congress in Copenhagen Denmark., September 13-17, 2008.

Accurate endograft planning is of paramount importance for procedural success. "It can be said that 90% of the 'battle' is won or lost before stepping into the operating room," (1) states W. Anthony Lee, MD, Associate Professor of Surgery, Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. This is why imaging physicians are seeking imaging methods that provide accurate pre-operative planning for surgeons and subsequent follow-up. Multi-detector CT rises to the challenge and provides high resolution volumetric data sets that can easily be rendered with Aquarius iNtuition; offering unprecedented morphologic and dimensional anatomic analysis.

Aquarius iNtuition offers best-in-class interventional planning tools combined with "anytime, anywhere" access to interactive 3D visualization from and to any PC via the company's industry-leading client-server technology. Such advanced visualization provides a complete picture of the sometimes complex pathology and necessary tools to design an adequate device for patients. Aquarius iNtuition's endograft planning tool delivers a workflow that is seamless with the aid of automatic segmentation of centerlines and anatomy ID labeling. Together with easily-determined fixation points, the appropriate measurements are reported in the embedded thoracic and abdominal endograft templates for grafts from Cook, Medtronic, Gore, Bolton and Endologix. Post-operative evaluation can easily be achieved with customized 3-D templates that can help identify endoleaks, aneurysm growth and the integrity of implanted devices.

Aquarius iNtuition also features AquariusWEB, a browser-based viewer to support delivery of live, interactive, 3D reports to the interventionalists and surgeons who are the ultimate end-users of the imaging data. AquariusWEB gives the possibility to the physicians to simply open a URL link sent via an email or embedded in the patient report and have instant access to review and interact with the volumetric dataset. No plugin or installation is required -- AquariusWEB works on a standard web browser such as Internet Explorer 6 or 7, Firefox 1.5, 2.0 or version 3, as well as Mac and Unix-based browsers. AquariusWEB also features a mobile edition compatible with the iPhone.

Aquarius iNtuition can also leverage wireless control technologies that are candidates for use in the OR, including the Gyromouse and the Nintendo Wii controller.

"Since we possess and utilize the most powerful and widely-used client-server technology in the industry, we are confident that Aquarius iNtuition offers unparalleled performance, functionality, and workflow integration for advanced endograft planning, and as such that it represents the best-in-class and most complete solution for interpretation and management of aneurysm repair," said Robert Taylor, Ph.D., president and COO of TeraRecon.
