TeraXion Announces Volume Deployment of its Dispersion Compensators in Siemens Transport Systems

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - March 15, 2007) - TeraXion Inc., a technology leader in performance-defining OEM products for the generation and conditioning of light signals in mission-critical applications of Telecom, Defense & Aerospace and Industrial markets, announces the commercial deployment of its fixed dispersion compensation products, the ClearSpectrum DCX, on Siemens DWDM transmission platforms SURPASS hiT 7300/and SURPASS hiT 7500.

Siemens and TeraXion have accomplished significant achievements in their joint development work, enabling them to offer their customers integrated optical network solutions. Siemens is glad to report their partnership with TeraXion. "I am very pleased about our relationship with TeraXion. It is an integrated part within our next generation optics strategy. SURPASS hiT 7300 allows the carriers to build their network capacity as bandwidth demand dictates, starting from very small deployments and upgrading in service to complexe all-optical meshes carrying up to 3.2 Tbit/s per fiber pair" said Uwe Fischer, VP of DWDM Product management at Siemens Networks.

With TeraXion, as a leading supplier of fixed dispersion compensators designed for 10 Gb/s and 40 Gb/s optical systems, Siemens is now able to deliver a competitive product offering. Siemens considers ultra-low insertion loss among key benefits of TeraXion ClearSpectrum DCX. This product suite allows reduction in initial capital expenditure by replacing the conventional Dispersion Compensation Fibers (DCFs) and by eliminating the need for mid-stage access amplifiers. In this way Siemens SUSRPASS hiT 7300 and SURPASS hiT 7500 is able to offer extremely competitive first build cost without compromising any upgrade capabilities.

"We are delighted to have developed a strong partnership with Siemens. TeraXion's efforts in supporting Siemens team over the past two years have definitely set a new industry benchmark for high performance systems at the lowest possible cost" said Dr. Martin Guy, VP of Product management and Technology at TeraXion. In the last year TeraXion shipped more than 1000 units of fixed dispersion compensator to Siemens.

The ClearSpectrum™-DCX will be on display during the 2007 OFC/NFOEC exhibition, TeraXion booth # 3157, March 27-29th in Anaheim, California.
