Teridian Invited to Present at Smart Energy Management Event at Kyoto University

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - March 30, 2010) -  Teridian Semiconductor, an industry leader in energy measurement, control, communication and advanced metering infrastructure, today announced that Vice President of Worldwide Sales Pete Todd has been invited to speak at the 2010 International Workshop on Smart Energy Management at Kyoto University in Japan on March 30. Teridian is the only semiconductor company that has been invited to present at the event, which will be attended by executives from leading Japanese utilities and manufacturers.

Todd's presentation, titled "From Distribution to Consumption - The Next Wave of the Smart Grid" will speak to trends in the smart grid from Teridian's perspective, given the company's prominent role in energy measurement solutions for utility meters, home appliances and the enterprise. Teridian's expertise in this arena is backed by over four generations of product innovation in smart metering. Teridian's system on chip (SoC) solutions are in use today by more than 60 metering manufacturers and on more than 120 metering platforms.

Held at the Katsura Campus of Kyoto University, the first International Workshop on Smart Energy Management is hosted by the Research Promotion Council of Keihanna Info-Communication Open Laboratory and is organized in cooperation with Kyoto University and the University of California, Santa Barbara.

"We're honored to be invited to speak at the inaugural International Workshop on Smart Energy Management," said Todd. "Energy conservation is a global issue, and the key to intelligent energy consumption is accurate measurement. Our participation in this prestigious event provides us with an opportunity to share global insights into the issues that consumers and businesses face as they work toward building better habits for energy consumption and strive to integrate more advanced technologies to measure, monitor and control usage."

Teridian has shipped in excess of 41 million units and has the largest market share of SoC metering devices, which are noted for their high reliability, design efficiency, ease of integration and cost effectiveness. Teridian has leveraged its technology designed for smart utility meters and applied it to measure energy in home automation networks, power distribution units for data centers and even home appliances like washing machines, dryers and refrigerators.
