Terrestrial Energy Announces Strategic Collaboration with University of Tennessee

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan. 21, 2015) - Terrestrial Energy Inc. (the "Company") announces that it has entered into a strategic collaboration with University of Tennessee, in Knoxville, TN, USA. This arrangement includes research and development work that is required to bring the Company's Integral Molten Salt Reactor to the engineering blueprint stage, expected in late 2016.

Established in 1957, the UT Department of Nuclear Engineering is one of the oldest and most prestigious programs in the United States. The department's strengths include a well-developed research program, close ties with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and several nuclear utilities, international research associations, and attractive graduate assistantships. The faculty is internationally recognized for excellence in research and teaching. UT's competencies and relationships will be complementary with the Company's collaboration with ORNL.

This and other recently announced strategic collaborations constitute part of the Company's strategic development program. The Company does not envisage constructing its own laboratory facilities for all its development, but rather collaborating with well-established facilities that have expertise in areas necessary to advance IMSR development. The Company expects to broaden the scope of collaboration with other organizations around the world as it seeks to develop its IMSR80 demonstration plant. While the demonstration IMSR80 is anticipated to be sited in Canada, the Company expects that the R&D will be an international undertaking ultimately involving other centers of excellence in nuclear research and innovation.
