Tervita Named Oilweek Magazine 2012 Supplier of the Year

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Oct. 26, 2012) - Tervita Corporation has been named Oilweek Magazine's 2012 Supplier of the Year, a prestigious award bestowed annually to a company that shows innovative leadership and excels in the Canadian energy service and supply industry.

The award was determined by an online poll among five service companies selected by Oilweek's editorial team. After a week of voting, Tervita received more than 5,400 votes, representing 62 per cent of the vote.

"We are honoured and humbled by the selection of Tervita as Supplier of the Year," said John Gibson, Tervita president and CEO. "We are blessed to work with a community of customers who are dedicated to responsible and ethical operations. We further benefit from a cadre of employees who are diligent and committed to meeting the needs of those customers. Thank you to our employees and customers for taking the time to vote and support Tervita."

"Tervita's selection as Supplier of the Year, I think, is a testament to the important work being done by the company, and by others like it, in the environmental services sector, particularly in relation to upstream oil and gas activities in western Canada," said Dale Lunan, Oilweek Magazine editor. "And the large number of our readers who participated in the voting process is an indication of the interest our Supplier and Producer of the Year issues generate."

Earlier this year, Tervita rebranded more than a dozen companies under the CCS Group, including Hazco, Concord and Beck, to join together expertise, experience, assets and services to develop integrated project management solutions and provide customers easier access to Tervita's comprehensive array of services.

Tervita continues to be a leader in innovation and technology, introducing several new technologies and practices to the market in 2012 including North America's first 'green' service rig, abandonment technology Direxit and an environmentally sustainable treatment process for evaporator blowdown.

The company continues to grow and expand its services offerings and geographical reach, acquiring 10 companies, opening four facilities and opening a regional office in Saskatoon this year.

"This is an incredibly exciting honour for Tervita," said David Werklund, Tervita founder and chairman. "We strive to set ourselves apart from other companies by setting the standard for how industry operates and how we can be sustainable. We're innovative and we apply our services effectively through a truly integrated model."

Tervita appears on the front cover of the November 2012 issue of Oilweek magazine with a feature story included in the issue. Tervita will also be recognized at the Oilweek/ATB Financial Annual Report Awards luncheon in November at Calgary's Hotel Arts.

In 2008, former Tervita subsidiary Hazco, was also named Oilweek's Supplier of the Year.
