Tervita Responds to Recent Supreme Court of Canada Decision

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Jan. 22, 2015) - Tervita Corporation today responded to the Supreme Court of Canada's decision regarding its 2011 acquisition of Complete Environmental Inc. and its subsidiary Babkirk Land Services Inc.

The acquisition had been challenged by the Commissioner of the Competition Bureau and had been heard by the Competition Tribunal and the Federal Court of Appeal prior to consideration by the Supreme Court of Canada. The Supreme Court held that the acquisition by Tervita should be allowed to proceed.

The decision means that Tervita can proceed with developing a secure landfill in North Eastern B.C. and add an additional and environmentally safe disposal site to its existing network of strategically located disposal facilities.
