Tetra Tech Selects Root Wireless to Map Wireless Network Performance

Root Wireless to Measure Networks in Montana, N. Dakota for National Broadband Map

BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwire - March 4, 2010) -  Root Wireless, Inc., developer of patent-pending technologies that map the performance of wireless networks and devices, announced today it has been retained by Tetra Tech EC, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTEK) to map the performance of wireless broadband networks in Montana and North Dakota for the U.S. Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration's (NTIA) National Broadband Map effort now in development.

Tetra Tech, a leading provider of consulting, engineering, GIS and other technical services, won contracts to map all broadband network services in the two states. Montana and North Dakota are among the states to receive grants from an NTIA program funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Data collected by Root Wireless will be used to measure actual wireless broadband service availability in the two states for the National Broadband Map, which the NTIA will publish to inform policymakers and provide consumers with improved information on the broadband Internet services available to them.

Tetra Tech was engaged by the Montana Department of Commerce, which received nearly $1.6 million in grant funding for data collection and mapping activities. Similarly, the North Dakota Information Technology Department was awarded almost $1.3 million to collect data and map broadband networks there.

"Root Wireless is taking an innovative approach to benchmarking wireless network performance, and its work in the top U.S. metropolitan markets caught our attention," said Fred Gifford, Project Manager and GIS Technical Lead at Tetra Tech EC. "We are excited to take advantage of Root Wireless technology and services on behalf of wireless network users in Montana and North Dakota."

"Mapping wireless network performance for Tetra Tech is a terrific opportunity," said Andy Hollenbeck, Chief Revenue Officer, Root Wireless. "We are impressed with the team, and gratified that Tetra Tech was quick to recognize we have engineered innovative technology that directly benefits wireless consumers."
