Texan Company Says It's Time Business Put Fresh Tech to Work

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - January 13, 2015) - One of the top Microsoft Partners in Texas wants to make sure that manufacturers and distributors make their best leap forward in any ERP software purchases for 2015.

Rand Group, which has a 12 year history specializing in providing financial and accounting technology services, is offering four upcoming sessions designed particularly for these industries in the Houston and Dallas areas.

"Look around just about any office this month, and you'll see people pulling out their latest and greatest new smart phone or tablet," said Rand Group President Ron Rand. "People are eager to embrace new technology on the personal front, but often when it comes to business, executives tend to delay software upgrades for years if not decades -- in some cases running software that was written in the 1980s."

Rand said people want new technology because the old stuff doesn't do want they want any more.

"Business software is no different," he said. "But while your colleague might be willing to brag about his smartphone, you won't know a thing about what you're competition is up to until the year-end numbers show up."

According to Gartner, the world leader in IT research, businesses have been quietly ramping up their ERP system purchases. Most recent figures showed a 3.8% increase in 2013 over 2012 to $25.4 billion in the U.S.

"People may not realize how much their competition is relying on software to get deals done faster and more cost-effectively," Rand said. "If you follow the money, you'll see that leading edge businesses are using technology to make sure they're getting maximum value out of every part of their operation."

Rand said as software becomes more sophisticated in its ability to delve deeply into business analytics, business owners can become reluctant to take the plunge. The result is they continue to use applications that don't meet their current needs, hobbling their own success.

Rand said the biggest hurdle is overcoming the fear factor.

"Over the years we've learned that when executives take one hour out of their day to go through a steady professional ERP simulation exercise they get a much better idea of what their company's needs really are," he said.

Heading the sessions will be Amer Dalain, Rand Group's Director of Manufacturing with nearly a decade of experience with various ERP platforms. His expertise is informed by more than a dozen years working in Information Systems, Supply Chain, business and management.

"Every time we do one of these sessions I hear the same thing from executives: I had no idea I could obtain this much useful data that could make such a difference to my bottom line'," Dalain said.

"These are significant investments, and savvy business leaders know they can't afford to make the wrong decision. That's why being guided through a high-level hands-on experience is so important. This way they are in a position to truly evaluate what is being presented to them when they work with their own IT teams."

The sessions are being held free of charge at Rand Group's Houston and Dallas offices. Sessions include a question and answer session. Lunch will be provided.
