Mark III Systems, Inc. to Serve Department of Information Resources

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - April 20, 2009) - Mark III Systems, Inc., one of the leading Texas information technology resources, was recently awarded a contract with the Department of Information Resources (DIR). As an IBM Premier Business Partner, Mark III Systems specialize in solutions centered on datacenter optimization, high availability, and data management. The company sells IBM Midrange and Enterprise products, including pSeries, xSeries, iSeries, storage and software and has the only IBM certified Business Partner Innovation Center (BPIC) in South Texas.

The DIR is operated by the chief technology office of the State of Texas, with a mission to support the effective and efficient use of public funds to maximize the value of its technology investment. The DIR GoDIRect program is a contract purchasing vehicle that simplifies the purchasing process for government and education customers in the State of Texas. Through a competitive bid process, DIR awards vendor contracts to provide information technology products to state and local government, k-12 and higher education customers.

This is the second contract awarded to Mark III Systems; the previous contract was awarded in 2006 for IBM Storage hardware and software products. Mark III Systems is the first IBM Business Partner to receive a DIR contract that covers all of IBM's midrange products. Mark III Systems is women-owned and HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) Certified by the State of Texas.

Mark III Systems averaged between $9 and $23 million in sales for the first 12 years. In 2006, sales increased to $16 million and jumped to $36 million in 2007. Despite a slump in the economy in 2008, Mark III had a record year of $40 million in sales. The company attributes this growth to a diverse customer base which includes healthcare, education, government, manufacturing, banking and a solid, experienced engineering staff.
