Texas Playground Expert Terry O'Bannion Celebrates Second Anniversary With Commercial Playground Equipment Specialists All Play, Inc.

Former City of Houston Official Offers Tips on Design, Construction and Maintenance to Developers and Managers of Church, School, and Community Parks, Playgrounds and Shelters

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - July 13, 2010) -  The parks and recreation professional credited with the development of the City of Houston's landmark maintenance program for its 260+ park sites will soon complete his second year of service at All Play, Inc., a Houston-based design and construction firm specializing in playground, athletic, and recreational areas. Terry O'Bannion originally accepted the employment invitation from All Play President Kurt Futrell in July of 2008.

"Terry's experience working with municipal operations offers us a perspective that few companies in our field enjoy," observes Futrell. "What we've learned about the challenges he faced and overcame while serving the City of Houston has proven to be a valuable educational tool for our sales, design, and construction teams. Ultimately, our customers are reaping the benefits."

In commemoration of this milestone at All Play, Terry O'Bannion has created a list of "The Ten Things Every Park Supervisor Should Know" and is making it available by fax or email at no charge. Interested parties should contact Mr. O'Bannion at terry@allplayinc.com or by calling (713) 939-9888.

Terry O'Bannion's most notable service to the City of Houston began on February 14, 1994, when Parks and Recreation Director William "Bill" Smith offered him the opportunity to structure and establish a maintenance program for the city's properties that contained play equipment for public use. Less than two weeks later, O'Bannion inaugurated the City of Houston's Safe Equipment Team which became a platform for countless improvements in the areas of safety and maintenance, not to mention budget savings. In 2000, following a second party, five day study conducted by the National Playground Safety Institute (NPSI), O'Bannion's program was recognized as the standard for Play Equipment Inspections and implemented by NPSI's Steve Plumb as a teaching tool.

Terry O'Bannion's professional accolades include certification by the NPSI in 1995, 1998, and 2001 (this status must be renewed every three years). In 1995, he received the Maintenance Award of Excellence by the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS) and in 1997 he participated in the NPSI's first International Playground Conference at Penn State University.

Terry O'Bannion is available for interviews and media inquiries related to the design, development, construction, and maintenance of playground, leisure, and athletic equipment. He can be reached during business hours through the offices of All Play, Inc.
